Get Involved
OSP, Inc. is working toward an interdependent economic development model, one in which non-profit institutions, the private sector and government together support sustainable conservation and development, working collaboratively through the prism of one of the world’s great natural resources, the Okefenokee.
We look forward to collaborating with you to shape a gift designed to secure UNESCO World Heritage status for the Okefenokee and, with that, advance all our core initiatives. Patrons of this “Okefenokee – UNESCO World Heritage Fund” will be recognized on the Okefenokee website, as well as in the Okefenokee – UNESCO Dossier, to be published for international review and archived in perpetuity, as the definitive volume representing the Okefenokee’s inscription as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Your generosity will put innovative strategies into action to protect the natural world that nurtures and inspires us all.
The OSP and the Okefenokee NWR are partnering towards the goal of UNESCO World Heritage Site status!
Financial Gifts
Winning UNESCO World Heritage inscription for the okefenokee is a three-to four-year timeline. The total cost of the UNESCO bid is estimated at $500,000 based on the costs incurred by other sites seeking inscription around the world. The majority of that funding is used to produce a formal “dossier” that is published and presented for review by UNESCO’s committee determining World Heritage awards. As “dossier” is a vague term, imagine a glossy “coffee table book” bursting with rich visuals as well as well-researched scientific support for the “outstanding universal value” of the Okefenokee.
